Praying for Open Doors

When we hear the truth it is so important that we respond to it, we don't just desire to hear the Word but be doers of the Word, would you agree?  Randy Hurst shared with us this past weekend about response evangelism,  about sharing the Gospel with people as God opens the doors.   He used the Scripture from Colossians 4 where theApostle Paul asks believers to pray that God would open doors for the message.  If we take a moment and do just that right now, what would God do?  Really would you stop reading for a moment and pray with me that God would open doors for us and others to share the message of Life?                         He has promised to order the steps of people who are in right relationship with God, but the first task in ordering our steps is asking God to take complete control of our lives, it comes down to a surrender of self and a dependence on God. Of saying Lord I can not make anything happen, I must depend on you and one of the chief avenues that you have given me to really rely on is prayer.  One of the things that came out of this weekend's teaching is the fact that the Lord is always working in every person not only to use us but to bring them to the truth.  When you and I pray for doors to be open, we are praying about coming into alignment with the will and the way of God for our lives and for others who He has already been working on.  This is the beauty of the love of Jesus who wants all men and women to know the truth and to walk in the truth. Which means praying for open doors will mean depending on the Lord to lead us and to direct our steps, our words and our lives. There are so many people who are affected by our love for Jesus and are ready to hear His story.  I am more and more convinced that we completely underestimate God's ability to use us in the lives of others.  But it will begin with you and I coming to a place of surrender before God and a simple prayer of Jesus use me and open the doors that you would have me walk through.  Will you pause today and pray that God will take our lives of complete dependence and make them tools for His divine appointments?
