The God Who Knows Us, The One We can Trust at All Times

Currently my wife and I are in Ohio, we've come to encourage and to pray for her sister who was diagnosed last week with Stomach Cancer.  We appreciate your prayers for Dee's sister Mardy as she faces a daunting operation and then recovery. She is a believer who is trusting God to do what Doctors can not.  We are praising God for a good report that the cancer has not spread. We are asking the Lord for miracles and that there can be a recovery that will beat the odds.  Any time the word cancer is mentioned it comes with a connotation of dread as something that no one ever expects to deal with even though all of us have been affected by it.  But cancer is also a reminder of our dependence on God.  Last week I heard about some new testing that scientist are looking into that will have the ability to look at each person's DNA and see what illnesses they might face in their lives. Although the technology is in the infant stages the idea has some very interesting ramification. According to reports the scientist will be able to tell what things your own genetic make up will make you a victim to.  In fact one report said that they would be able to tell you what year you would die.  I don't know about you but sometimes ignorance is bliss, instead of wondering about what might "get us" we can begin to look to God about what might affect our lives spiritually not just physically.

The Word of God says that God knows all of our days before one comes to be.  In other words God is better than any DNA test He knows us and loves us no matter what we might be facing God is still the one who knows our days and our ways.  We can trust Him with our fears our worries our physical health.  Yet it seems when we are face to face with the unknown, what have we have determined and put in place in our lives before hand really comes out.  That is why the God who knows us tells us to fear not, that He is the first and the last the beginning and the end.  All of our days are in His hands, when we put our trust in the Lord it is not merely for good times and lazy days, but also for confusing experiences and moments that we have no answers.  There is an old hymn that speaks to the issue of trusting God it says, "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His Word, just to rest upon His promise just to know thus saith the Lord.  The chorus of the song really is something that all of us can make a prayer.  "Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him, how I've proved Him o'er and o'er, Jesus, Jesus precious Jesus, o for grace to trust you more.

That is my prayer for my sister in law, for my wife and for you.  God, we trust you give us grace to trust you more.
